The following FAQ's are provided in an effort to assist you with questions you may have pertaining to the MetLife Practice Self Assessment form which is facilitated through utilization of this website. We hope that the information provided will answer any questions you may have. If your question is not addressed below, we recommend that you contact a MetLife representative for additional support.
What is the Practice Self Assessment?
The Practice Self Assessment instrument was developed by the MetLife Dental Advisory Council. It defines the essential aspects of a quality dental practice - those processes that protect the health and safety of patients and staff.
Targeted educational information will be emailed to you in response to any self-identified opportunities for improvement.
Do I have to complete the Practice Self Assessment?
Yes. Completion of the assessment is mandatory per the MetLife Dental Services Agreement, Section 14: Responsibility for Dental Services.
What happens with the Practice Self Assessment once it’s completed?
The Practice Self Assessment becomes part of the dentist’s credentials file, and the aggregate information is used to identify topics for MetLife Quality Resource Guides.
What are MetLife Quality Resource Guides?
MetLife Quality Resource Guides are self-study courses available 24 hours a day at www.metdental.com. There are more than 60 guides available on topics such as management of endodontic failures to infection control.
If you participate with MetLife, you and your staff can receive free continuing education credits after reviewing the guide and passing the associated post-test.
What is the MetLife Dental Advisory Council?
The MetLife Dental Advisory Council was formed in 1995 to serve as the oversight committee for MetLife’s quality initiatives. The Council members include highly respected members of the practicing and academic dental communities, as well as corporate benefits representatives. The goal of the MetLife Dental Advisory Council is to help dentists improve the oral health of the patients they serve.
